Cornerstones

Tomorrow is coming

But while today’s still here

Take time to smell that flower

Which you always seem to rush right past.

Pick one less thing to do

Be an open channel

Take the long way around

Then think of nothing.

Empty all from your vastness

Including those constant reminders

Just walk and be by yourself

Sit on a stone,

Overlooking a lake

Take this moment with you

Let the winds your soul caress

Forget all unwanted fears.

Just let yourself go

As far away as you wish

Set off in a direction

From which you derive inspiration.

Cast all excess adrift

Retain the cornerstones

The semblance of your origin

See yourself in your truest light.

Accept where you are

Govern oneself according

To your own expectations

Not what others think is best.

See life beyond its shallows

Let things sink in gradually

Lose the need of instant gratification

Endure by persistence.

Listen, but do so

Discriminately

Take the initiative

Hear your inner spirit.

Do not control the sun

Be a sibling to the earth

Let love seep through your pores

Be patient as your sapling grows.
